Background

My mantra is simple; Behind every computer screen interaction is a real human being. I’m Vera and I’m a current student studying Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Washington. I started with an interest in Web Development, but have transitioned into concentrating mainly on UX/UI.

I have over 2 years of UX experience. I’ve worked on a multitude of diverse projects including website redesigns, mobile app designs, and coding a React web application. My skillset spans across user experience and interaction design, user research, and encompassing substantial knowledge about the development process. I am proficient in Figma, but find myself learning new shortcuts and useful features every day. I’m constantly seeking new opportunities to apply my skills and expand my expertise in UX design with a focus on creating impactful experiences for users.

For my design methodology, I truly try to understand my users. Thorough research is of the utmost importance and affects every step of the design process. I leverage my informatics coursework to help iterate effectively; creating intuitive, accessible, and meaningful designs.

Hobbies

I also like to draw in my free time. Drawing allows me to mentally and physically relax after a long week. I could keep drawing for hours on end if I had the time to do so. Recently, I’ve been working on customizing my tumbler. I found some art that I liked and decided to recreate it on the tumbler’s surface.

Outside of UX design I adore the PNW, so if I’m not designing you’ll most likely catch me outdoors. I like to run, ski, hike, bike, and swim. Being outside is where I find a lot of the inspiration for my design work and color implementation. The colors in the mountains are the most vivid and striking shades I’ve ever seen. I don’t think I could ever get tired of visiting these places.
